July '24 - Compatriots and friends of Henry Leavenworth, Delaware Crossing, Monticello and Jesse Leavenworth (DAR) joined together in fellowship. Under a warm July evening, we watched the KC Monarchs defeat the Lake Country Dockhounds in a thrilling 8-7 victory that was decided in the 10th inning. After the visitors tied up the game in the top of the 9th with a grand slam homerun, the home team went down in order to send the game into extra innings. Returning the "favor", KC retired the visitors in the top of the 10th and then connected with a base hit single to drive home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.
To kick off the gametime festivities, five jumpers parachuted into the stadium and the Monarchs defense took up their positions in the field.
Showing some classic Americana during a classic American game, our Kansas Society Color Guard performed the opening game flag ceremony (see pictures on this page) and received a warm reception from the crowd!
Thanks to all!

On 12 December 2023, over 100 Compatriots and guests assembled for our Annual Patriot Muster. As always, we enjoyed the food and services provided by the Heritage Center.
Compatriot John Shatzel was the Master of Ceremonites and did another spectacular job.
This year, we recognized 14 members at large in the Leavenworth and greater Kansas City communities, with our first annual Freedom Corps Awards. The annual muster is designed to illuminate American patriots by giving attendees an opportunity to remember and represent local patriots as Defenders of Freedom, and declaring that patriotism is not limited to ancestry, location or time.
During the 2023 Patriot Muster, the Henry Leavenworth Chapter commemorated the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and inducted 13 good citizens into the Henry Leavenworth Chapter Freedom Corps as Compatriots of the colonial delegates to the First Continental Congress held in 1774.
