Henry Leavenworth celebrates America's 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence at Assembly Hall in Atchison's Benedictine College.
Led by Society Vice President, Jerry Gross, who portrayed John Hamilton, the local chapter made a Patriot Chest display showing articles typically in use during the colonial period in America. The event was well attended, in spite of the all-day downpour of rain.
Everyone is invited to join the Henry Leavenworth Chapter as we support the dedication of the new Moritz Library at Benedictine College on Saturday, September 26.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m., with members of the Kansas Society Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard presenting the colors to open the ceremony. Color Guard participants should plan to arrive by 9:30 a.m. to prepare for the ceremony.

A stunning replica of the Assembly Room of Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted.
A reproduction of the Liberty Bell, one of America's most enduring symbols of liberty.
Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution information tables, where we will introduce visitors to our organizations, our mission, and opportunities for membership.
This dedication presents an exceptional opportunity to showcase the Sons of the American Revolution before a large public audience. Thousands of visitors are expected to experience the library during its opening, making this one of the most significant public outreach events our chapter has participated in. Every conversation we have, every question we answer, and every visitor we engage helps advance our mission of preserving the principles of the American Revolution, promoting patriotism, educating future generations, and identifying prospective members.
